About Us

For All is a nonprofit organization, founded by nationally-recognized progressive organizer Kai Newkirk, that practices and promotes nonviolent action and organizing to forge a multi-racial social democracy with liberty and justice for ALL.

Our mission is to make America a Beloved Community.

We undertake grassroots organizing, training initiatives, moral communications, electoral interventions, and direct action campaigns motivated by an ethic of universal, unconditional compassionate love and grounded in what we call the integral nonviolent liberation tradition.

Past Campaigns

From early 2020 through 2022, For All played a leading role in the fight to end the filibuster and Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin’s obstruction of progressive legislation. We helped found and lead the Arizona Coalition to End the Filibuster, the Sinema Primary Pledge, the West Virginia Coalition to End the Filibuster, and a national team of organizers using nonviolent direct action.

These campaigns used tools from constituency open letters, state Democratic Party resolutions, publishing op-eds, social media campaigns, marches, rallies, office sit-ins, and nonviolent street blockades to build public support, focus media attention, and raise the political costs for our targets.

While we did not compel Sinema and Manchin to change position and support filibuster reform or abolition, we did help win important victories. We helped move Democrats to hold the first vote in modern American history on ending the 60 vote minority veto on regular legislation — with 48 voting in favor — and made filibuster reform a new near-consensus of the national Democratic Party.

And we helped move Sinema and Manchin to finally come to the table and pass the deeply-compromised but still historic climate, tax justice, and health care measures of the Inflation Reduction Act.

In Sinema’s case, we helped isolate her from Democratic support so severely that we closed the door to a viable re-election campaign and cleared the path for a Democrat committed to end the filibuster to run to replace her, Ruben Gallego.

In 2023, we led a campaign of nonviolent civil disobedience actions at the White House and beyond to demand President Biden declare a climate emergency and keep his promises to move to end fossil fuels, garnering national media coverage from ABC’s Good Morning America to MSNBC and securing a promise from the President to meet with Kai Newkirk, For All’s founder.

Kai has since met with a senior White House climate staff member as a first step to the meeting with Biden. And the White House announced multiple major climate wins in line with our demands: the American Climate Corps and a pause on permitting for new LNG terminals.

After Hamas’s horrific attack of October 7th and Israel’s horrific war of collective punishment in reaction, we spearheaded the forging of an interfaith, multi-racial Arizona coalition campaign for a ceasefire in Gaza. Through a sit-in, joining marches, delegations, press conferences, vigils, and other organizing, we helped move the Arizona Democratic Party, Sen. Mark Kelly, Rep. Ruben Gallego, and Rep. Greg Stanton to join the call for a ceasefire (with varying degrees of strength). We demonstrated the electoral significance of this demand by mobilizing a Vote Ceasefire AZ presidential primary protest vote that eclipsed President Biden’s winning vote margin in 2020.
